The Playhouse
Coronado Playhouse has been operating continuously for more than 50 years, longer than any other community theater in San Diego County. Situated on the strand in Coronado, it is a delightful place to see a play. At intermission, you can stroll out on the patio, which is right on the bay, and enjoy a beverage as the yachts glide into their slips at Glorietta Bay. The theater is cabaret style, where the audience sits at small tables. On Friday nights, an optional dinner is available to patrons, served BEFORE the performance.
The Playhouse is also a delightful place for actors to work. The stage is famous for having a pole downstage center that all directors must work around. An old quonsit hut behind the theater has been made into dressing rooms.
